10.12.2012 : REDDiness in Kinshasa
REDDiness team animated the final meeting and the workshop begin December in Kinshasa for one week. The worshop focused on capacity building in the frame of remote sensing applications developped during the project. Further information on the page Training material and softwares.















26.11. to 06.12.2012 : REDDiness in Doha
The European Commission regrouped all REDD+ initiatives during the Side event in Doha. A REDDiness poster and a presentation was introduced. Furthermore OSFAC testify as user.
 
15 and 16.11.2012: REDDiness in Cyprus. REDDiness project and poster presentation during the second FP7 Space conference in Cyprus.

24.10.2012: REDDiness in Gembloux. Presentation of a poster at the REDD+ day held in the university of Gembloux. A lot of REDD specialists were presents, beside the technical domain, the political and socio-economical ones were represented.

26.08.2012 to 04.09.2012 : The field mission in Congo took place on the study site in the south of the country. It concerned four villages, namely: Youbi, Koutou, Sintou-Nkola, Mbouyou. As for Gabon, the objective of the mission was double : i) strengthen local skills (use of GPS data, integration in a GIS ...), ii) verify and validate the analytical results obtained from the data optical and radar. The route carried on this mission is available on our ArcGIS online.

10.06.2012 to 16.06.2012: The field mission in Gabon took place in the province of Ogooué-Lolo at the Sustainable Forest Management Concession (CFAD) of the company SBL. The objective of the mission was double: i) strengthen local skills (use of GPS data, integration in a GIS ...), ii) verify and validate the analytical results obtained from optical and radar data. 08/06/2012: The project REDDiness attended and presented the progress of its activities during the coordination meeting of REDD + projects financed by the REA (Research Executive Agency) of the European Commission.

04.06 to 09.06.2012: The first session of training of local actors in Gabon was held in Libreville from 4 to 9 June 2012 in the premises of the Laboratory Graph and Mapping (LAGRAC) of the Department of Geography University OMAR BONGO. This training, involving 11 participants, aimed to bring to the officials of the Ministry of Water and Forests, to the students of the Department of Geography of the University and to the members of the WRI project, including the Project REDDiness, theoretical knowledge and practices in the field of monitoring of vegetation by remote sensing. 03.08.2012 - 03.09.2012: The second progress meeting of the project was held in Brussels at Eurosense premises. This meeting was attended by all the project partners, scientific advisors and representatives of the European Commission.

04/01/2012 - Oxford (England)
REDDiness poster presented and discussed at the Climate change, deforestation and the future of African rainforests conference in Oxford from 4 to 6 January 2012. This conference, hosted by the Oxford Centre for Tropical Forests provided a multidisciplinary examination of the fate of African tropical forests in the 21st century. Our poster was untitled “Comparison and integration of High Resolution and Very High Resolution EO data in Forest Monitoring in Central Africa” and illustrated the results of REDDiness survey in Republic of Congo and Gabon as well as methods of integrating remote sensing information about forest degradation. 28/11 to 10/12/2011 - Durban (South Africa)
During the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP 17) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, from the 28th of November to 10th of December 2011, a day called “REDD+ day of the Republic of Congo” was organized by the REDD National Coordination. This day, the 6th of December, was supervised by Mister Henri DJOMBO, Minister of Sustainable Development, Forest Economy and Environment. Its goal was to inform the international opinion of the countries’ progress in the field of REDD+, forest conservation and sustainable management. 25/10/2011- The first Progress meeting took place in Kinshasa on the 20st and 24th October 2011.















05/06/2011 - Eurosense attended and presented in the 31st EARSeL Symposium (1st Workshop on Forestry) on the 2nd and 3rd of June 2011.


05/06/2011 - REDDiness project card published in the "Space Research - A European Journey (Space research projects under the 7th Framework Programme for research)". Available here (p.58).


14/05/2011 - REDDiness project presented on the FP7 Space conference in Budapest on the 12th and 13th of May 2011.


03/05/2011 – REDDiness kick-off meeting in Brazzaville on the 1st and 2nd May.
